The sun was shining, so Isabelle and I decided to head out into the prairie for a photoshoot. Isabelle is a really talented photographer, and she requested that I model for her in the prairies near my house. She needed to practice taking pictures with the new camera she got for her birthday in May. Of course I couldn't deny a free photoshoot!
Overcast weather is the best for photography; there is still plenty of light, but no weird shadows.
Different angles can look cool in order to get different effects, but try to stay on the same level as your subject for most photos.
Make sure the background doesn't distract from the main focal point. Something simple and repetitive is always nice.
When using a camera with interchangeable lenses, manual focus is your friend! The camera doesn't always know what you want to focus on. With manual focus, what's in focus is completely in your control.
When the sun is out, landscapes are nice, but the subject is often dark and shadowed. To fix this, use the flash to fill in all of the darkness and shadows.
Above is a picture taken using the fill flash, and below is the same picture taken without a fill flash.
Backgrounds have a large impact on a picture. Something large, flowy and open like a field produces more of a dreamy, free spirited look, and something close and simple like a brick wall or wood produces a completely opposite look.
I hope you guys enjoyed the pictures and the photography tips! If you take any great photos using these tips, I would love to see them! Email me your photos at itssydneylikeaustralia12@gmail.com . Well, that's all for me today. I just hope Isabelle and I don't get any ticks from hanging out in the prairie for hours... :/
Keep exploring,
Sydney
