Today, my sister Genevieve, Elizabeth, and I went to the lake to go swimming. At least, I wanted to go swimming.
I was sitting outside enjoying the sun and doing some drawing when Genevieve walked up to me shaded by a lacy, lilac parasol. "Elizabeth and I are going to the lake, do you want to come with us, Izzy?" She asked. The weather was ideal for swimming, and I was getting quite hot after baking in the sun for an hour, so I definetly wanted to go down to the lake. Waterfront breezes, wading in the cool tides, and enjoying the sun were in my near future. I hurried inside to change.
At the lake, I scurried down the path to the water. However, I was surprised to find that I was the only one by the water's edge. Why weren't Genevieve and Elizabeth right behind me? I walked back up the lakeside path and saw my sister and her best friend laying on their unfolded towels. My confusion was obvious. "Isabelle, Liz and I are here to sunbathe, not swim," Genevieve informed me. I wouldn't let their no-fun attitudes ruin my beach day, so I headed back down the path alone.
I sat on a warm boulder near the water, and slowly slid into the cool, calm water.
In the knee deep water, I observed various species of small fish, snails, and aquatic weeds. The water was cool, but it felt refreshing to take a summer afternoon swim. In a few minutes, after I got used to the water temperature, I dived right in.
While I dried off, the other ladies continued to lay in the sun. I don't understand how they can enjoy just laying and doing nothing for such a long time! Hopefully they applied copious amounts of sunscreen. Do you prefer swimming or sunbathing? Let us know in the comments below.
Have a Super Sunny Day,
Isabelle
